Madison, WI — Dave Jones, Founder of Dave Jones, Inc. has been inducted into the 2019 Wisconsin Apprenticeship Hall of Fame. The Wisconsin Apprenticeship Hall of Fame was founded in 1983 by the Department of Industry, Labor & Human Relations-now the Department of Workforce Development (DWD)—and the Wisconsin Apprenticeship Advisory Council. It is hosted by the Wisconsin Biennial Labor-Management-Government Apprenticeship Conference.
Dave was inducted last night at the Wisconsin Apprenticeship Hall of Fame Awards Banquet at the Madison Marriott West Hotel in Middleton, WI. The Wisconsin Apprenticeship Hall of Fame was created to honor individuals who have made an exceptional contribution to the success of the Wisconsin Apprenticeship System during their working lifetime.
Out of his home’s garage in Mt. Horeb, WI, Dave Jones founded Dave Jones Plumbing in 1977, after his 5-year apprenticeship with the Mt. Horeb Ace Hardware. During his 38-year career as President and Owner of Dave Jones, Inc., Dave dedicated hundreds, if not thousands of hours to the Wisconsin Apprenticeship Program and has made countless contributions to the program over the years. He personally trained hundreds of apprentices and played a pivotal role in making Dave Jones, Inc. one of the largest single apprenticeship trainer companies in Wisconsin.
Dave served on the State Plumbing Committee for 24 years, spending 11 of those years as elected co-chair. Dave also served on the ABC Madison Apprenticeship Advisory committee as well as the Advisory Council. He was a member of the Plumbing Code and Licensing Committee for the State of Wisconsin for several years.
In addition, Dave was devoted to the development and creation of the continued education classes for ABC of Wisconsin. He helped develop the plumbing repair class and taught the course for several years following.
Dave was and still is a very strong supporter of the Wisconsin Apprenticeship Training Program. “It was a true pleasure for me to develop youth into licensed plumbers, sheet metal workers and sprinkler fitters for over three decades and I am extremely proud of each apprentice that has gone through the program at Dave Jones, Inc.,” Jones said.
A permanent display with engraved nameplates of individuals who have been inducted into the Wisconsin Apprenticeship Hall of Fame, including the memorabilia, is maintained by the Department of Workforce Development in the offices of the Bureau of Apprenticeship Standards in Madison, WI.
