Emergency Services

We at Dave Jones are here for you in an emergency. If that emergency is after-hours or on the weekend when our office is closed, premium rates apply, and we’d like to help you avoid the extra cost with some tips that may turn the emergency issue into something that can be fixed during regular business hours.

Regular Business Hours: Monday – Friday, 7:00 am – 4:30 pm

Our chat is on 24/7 so if you send us a message now, we’ll respond right away in the morning when our office opens.

Before you call, take a look at our emergency services and tips:

Gas leak – CALL 911 AND GET OUT OF THE HOUSE IMMEDIATELY.

No Heat or No Air Conditioning –

Total loss of heat when the outside temperature is below 55 degrees fahrenheit. Or total loss of air conditioning when the outside temperature is above 75 degrees fahrenheit.

Troubleshooting:

  1. Make sure the thermostat batteries are fresh. Many of the newer smart thermostats are wired to the furnace for power AND use a battery.
  2. Check your furnace filter. Make sure the filter is clean and installed correctly. 1″ filters should be changed monthly. Larger filters can last from 3 months to a year, depending on brand and use. Filters need to be changed during the cooling season as well, they are not specific to heating. Your filter should have an arrow on it. Install it so the arrow is pointing toward the furnace.
  3. Check outside. Ensure there is no snow or ice covering your furnace vent. In the summer, take a look at your air conditioner and look for damage or debris that may be preventing it from working properly.
  4. Confirm the furnace has power. Check your breaker box and look for a blown circuit. Reset if necessary.
  5. Try restarting your furnace. There should be a switch located on or immediately next to your furnace. Flip it off, if your fan is running wait for it to come to a complete stop, and flip it back on.

Still not working? Help your tech diagnose your problem:

There is small clear bubble on the lower section of your furnace. When there is an error, a light will flash behind it in a pattern. It may be hard to see in a well-lit environment, but take note of the number of long and short blinks. That pattern corresponds to an error code.

Also, find your unit brand and model number. Look for a sticker with a model number. Typically located inside of the bottom section, or on the outside of the unit. Provide this information when you call. Or make it super easy and take a picture and text it to us (608-222-8490).

Serial Number Locations

Plumbing Leak –

Look for the water source, and turn off the supply. For instance, if the leak has to do with your toilet, locate the valve shutoff on the wall behind your toilet and shut it off. If the leak is coming from an unknown source and is severe, turn off your whole-home water supply. If the leak has to do with tub/sink drainage, then cut off the water supply and block the drain. This can help to minimize damage until the tech arrives.

No Hot Water –

If your water heater is non-functional, give us a call. If it’s a Sunday before a business day, we will likely try to schedule something for the next business day. Loss of hot water is inconvenient, but not always an emergency.
